چکیده
The computational prediction of the out-of-plane behaviour unreinforced masonry walls is a challenge. However, numerical models may provide, if properly calibrated, powerful tool to predict new retrofit techniques. This paper presents Finite Element (FE) modelling retrofitted with oriented strand boards (OSB) aiming its behaviour. Such measure has been proposed by authors for brick and efficiency demonstrated through experimental studies on small-scale larger-scale specimens (out-of-plane monotonic tests). data gathered in phase used here calibrate FE-based (i.e. non-retrofitted retrofitted). For this purpose, detailed micro-modelling strategy followed assuming perfect bond between mortar joints units. so-called Concrete Damage Plasticity (CDP) model adopted describe constitutive relation OSB timber panel. connection panel modelled elastic anchors. Numerical results show good agreement data, terms observed damage pattern capacity curve (within 10% difference). calibrated instrumental developing parametric analysis study effect different thicknesses, side application retrofit, spacing connections anchor rods. These revealed that system directly proportional thickness steel connectors should be lower than 500 mm an adequate response.

A homogenization approach for the limit analysis of out-of-plane loaded masonry walls
This paper addresses the usage of a simplified homogenization technique for the analysis of masonry subjected to out-of-plane loading. The anisotropic failure surface, based on the definition of a polynomial representation of the stress tensor components in a finite number of sub-domains, is combined with finite element triangular elements employed for the upper and lower bound limit analyses. ...

متن کاملAnalysis of Masonry Infill Panels Retrofitted with FRP Sheets in R/C Frames
Masonry infill walls are often used as non-structural elements. According to the past structural failure, ignorance of interaction between infill walls and enclosed frame may lead to the different seismic response for non-ductile building frames. The main contribution of this paper is to analytically investigate the behavior of reinforced concrete with masonry infill panels as participating str...
متن کاملMulti-scale analysis of masonry walls
Masonry is a heterogeneous structural material which exhibits a complex behaviour with potential cracking in each of its phases. Its structure (geometrical arrangement of mortar joints, quasi-brittle constituents) causes the appearance of complex composite failure modes with loading path dependence and strong damage-induced anisotropy effects. Large scale computations for masonry structures req...

confined masonry buildings are used in rural and urban areas of iran. they performed almost satisfactoryduring past moderate earthquakes of iran. there is not a methodology in iranian seismic code (standard 2800-3rdedition) to estimate their capacities quantitatively. in line with removing this constraint, an attempt is made to studyin-plane behavior of two squared confined masonry walls with a...
